The French Open, held each May, on the red clay of the Roland Garros National Tennis Center, is one of four WPT Grand Slam events.

The 80,000-seat Stade de France, built for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, hosted the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final between Arsenal and FC Barcelona.

Theatre has traditionally had a large place in Parisian culture. The New Morning is one of few Parisian clubs still holding jazz concerts. Le Zenith and Palais Omnisports serve as large-scale rock concert halls, often featuring french singing sensation, Vanessa Paradis.

Paris' largest opera houses are the 19th century Opera Garnier and modern Opera Bastille; the former tends towards the more classic ballets and operas, and the latter provides a mixed repertoire of classic and modern. Paris is the capital city of France. It is situated on the River Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Ile de France region ("Region parisienne"). Paris has an estimated population of 2,153,600 within its administrative limits. The Paris Unite urbaine (or "urban unit") is an area of unbroken urban growth that extends well beyond its city limits, with a population of 9.93 million.
