Rihanna Alters Tour Schedule

Rihanna is set to kick off the Last Girl on Earth Tour this Sunday, July 4th at GM Place in Vancouver, B.C. The tour was originally scheduled to begin July 2nd at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington, but was canceled due to “production changes” according to the  Rihanna camp.

Despite schedule changes, Ke$ha will remain the opening act as Rihanna continues to tour the U.S. and Canada through August.

Van Morrison to play the 2010 Edmonton Folk Music Festival

Looking to get outdoors and enjoy great music this summer? Alberta has you covered, offering two summer folk festivals with diverse lineups sure to please any music enthusiast.

Up first is the 31st annual Calgary Folk Festival on July 22 – 25. Held at the beautiful Prince’s Island Park in downtown Calgary, the festival has over sixty-five musicians on seven stages. Highlighting this year’s stages are Roberta Flack, The Avett Brothers, Michael Franti & Spearhead, and K’Naan.

Each year in mid-August, Edmonton hosts the Edmonton Folk Music Festival in downtown at Gallagher Park. This year, the four (more…)

Vans Warped Tour Hits Summer

The sixteenth annual Vans Warped Tour kicked off last week in Carson, California to an excited twelve thousand fans. The rock festival will travel through forty-two cities this summer, before closing out in Hillsboro, Oregon on August 15.

The tour showcases nearly eighty bands on eight stages, including SUM 41, Everclear, Alkaline Trio, and the All-American Rejects, back on the roster a second time. (more…)

MGMT Tour for Congratulations

Led by Andrew Van Wyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, MGMT are currently on tour in support of their sophomore effort, Congratulations, with dates in Canada, the U.S., and U.K. The tour kicked off in spring, and will wrap up in December of this year.

MGMT received much praise for their 2008 release, Oracular Spectacular. The electro-pop sound and dance appeal of songs like “Kids” and “Electric Feel” earned the then duo a strong fan-base, and a Grammy nomination for “Best New Artist.” (more…)

Live at Squamish Coming Labor Day Weekend

This Labor Day weekend, September 4 and 5, B.C. will host its first (possibly) annual Live at Squamish festival! This news on the heels of another Pemberton Festival cancellation, is very exciting for music fans across the province.

The Live at Squamish festival is kicking off on a much smaller scale than that of Pemberton. The venue will accommodate up to 13,000 people. The organizers for the event hope that it will grow over time, but are excited with the participation and response so far, adding that their agenda is to “create happy times in a big field with great music.”

Matt and Kim Announce Fall Tour

Energetic indie rockers, Matt and Kim, have announced tour plans for fall. The Brooklyn duo will make three stops in Canada on a thirty-six date, North American tour in support of their 2009 album, Grand.

Matt and Kim moved from underground to well-known with their hit song, “Daylight.” The two are known for their wildly enthusiastic live shows. Made up of Kim, the perpetually smiling drummer, and Matt, the unconventional keyboardist and vocalist, this pair delivers a liberating rush, and makes it impossible for fans to stand still. (more…)
