You may know Adam Lambert as the runner-up on the 2009 season of “American Idol”, but did you know that before he went on the popular TV game-show, he had made a name for himself in Theater?
Lambert started stage acting as a child. He landed various roles over his short career, the highlights of which were performing as Joshua in “Ten Commandments: The Musical” alongside Val Kilmer, and performing as part of the “Wicked” cast in Los Angeles.
Lambert decided to take a chance on “American Idol”, and the gamble has definitely paid off. He recently signed with RCA, and his debut album, For Your Entertainment, was released in late 2009. Blondie, having already had plans to tour the U.S with fellow female singer Pat Benatar, has just announced that she will be adding the all girl group, The Donnas, as special guests for most of the performances of the tour.
Since the initial itinerary, 21 shows have been added to the tour lineup, most of them featuring all three musical acts, one featuring just Blondie and Benatar, and some just Blondie. The tour begins on July 18th in Oakville, CA with a performance by only Blondie, and will continue until September 2nd when the last show will be performed in Tuscon, AZ, again with Blondie as the lone act. But rest assured, most of the dates inbetween the start and finish of the tour will feature Pat Benatar and The Donnas.
While Blondie has not released an album since 2003’s “The Curse of Blondie,” supporting act Pat Benatar released a two-disc, 40-song set titled “Ultimate Collection” last summer, and The Donnas are set to release their new album “Greatest Hits Vol.16″ July 7th.
