Trace Adkins is an
American country music singer from Sarepta, Louisiana. Some of his hits include "Rough
and Ready", "Arlington", "Every Light in the House", "Hot Mama", "Honky Tonk
Badonkadonk" and "Swing".
Trace Adkins' debut was 1996's Dreamin' Out Loud, which included a number
of hits like "(This Ain't) No Thinkin' Thing" and "Every Light in the House". His fourth album,
Chrome (2001) yielded a top-ten hit in "I'm Tryin'", and, in 2003, Greatest Hits
Collection, Vol.1 did the same with "Then They Do".
Trace Adkins' recent video for "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" demonstrates the recent cross-pollination between the crunk hip hop and pop country genres. The term badonkadonk itself is a fairly new entrant to Country Music Television, showing up much more often on Black Entertainment Television. The juxtaposition of cowboy hats and jewelry exemplifies the radical trajectory that Trace Adkins' work has taken over the past decade.
