Held annually in July for three days in Chicago's Union Park, the Pitchfork Music Festival, hosted by Pitchfork Media, emphasizes events by alternative, rap and hip hop, electronic and dance music groups, although other genres are sometimes offered.
2006 artists included bands such as Chicago Underground Duo and Spoon, while later festivals featured Freddie Gibbs and Kurt Vile in 2010. The 2011 festival sold out quickly, and included a comedy stage for the first time.
