An American rock band founded by Gary Cherone and Nuno Bettencourt, they reached their height in the '80s and early '90s, influenced by Queen and Van Halen. They are self-described as "Funky Metal," and their output includes five studio albums, two EPS in Japan and two compilations. Extreme is one of the most successful rock groups of the early '90s with ten million copies sold worldwide.
Their most successful project was "Pomograffiti" in '90, which went gold in '91, featuring the acoustic ballad, "The Love Guru," #1 in the U.S. They reformed for a tour in '04, and planned for a world tour in '08. The most recent album is "Saudades De Rock."
