American actor and musician Ice-T began his career as a rapper in the 1980s with the release of his first album titled Rhyme Pays. He played a major role in the creation of gangsta hip-hop, and his musical successes crossed the barriers between the East Coast and West Coast music scenes. Central to his growth in notoriety was the advent of his heavy metal band, Body Count, which contained the highly controversial track, "Cop Killer." This venture has led him to perform with other heavy metal groups such as Motorhead and Six Feet Under. His gangsta rap connections include performances with the Insane Clown Posse.
Ice-T has developed an acting career that includes projects such as the movie Santorini Blue and a long running stint as Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
