Nappy Roots Tickets
A quintet formed in Bowling Green, Kentucky in '95, Nappy Roots fits into the genre of "alternative rap," with "Awnaw" as its most well-known single. As independent artists, "Country Fried Cess" got the group into Atlantic Records. The 2002 "Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz" went multi-platinum, and the 2003 "Wooden Leather" was successful as well.
Returning to their origins as independents, Nappy Roots founded their own label, NREG (Nappy Roots Entertainment Group), with "Innerstate Music" as the first release, followed by "Humdinger" in 2008. The quintet's "Pursuit of Nappyness" tour covered most of 2008, followed by the "Humdinger" tour in '09.
