Brian Vander Ark (born June 19, 1964) is the lead
singer of the band The Verve Pipe. Born in Grand Rapids,
Michigan, Brian Vander Ark began playing guitar at age
8. After playing in a string of bands, he formed The Verve
Pipe in 1992 with Donny Brown. The Verve Pipe fared well,
becoming one of the Detroit area's most popular bands in the
mid-to-late '90s. Brian Vander Ark's younger brother
formerly played bass and sang back-up vocals in the band.
The Verve Pipe's biggest hit track was "The Freshmen" from
their album Villains, released in 1996.
Brian Vander Ark has also dabbled with acting, making a
few appearances in films directed by Matthew Leutwyler. In
2001, Brian Vander Ark appeared in his biggest scale
movie to date alongside Mark Wahlberg, in the movie Rock Star.
