Formed in 1985, this English Extreme Metal band became early leaders of grindcore (harsh, down-tuned guitars, fast tempi and incomprehensible vocals), also called splatter death metal, hardgore and goregrind. However, they are also well known for melodic death metal in their '93 album, "Heartwork." The first quality production album was entitled, "Symphonies of Sickness."
A '94 tour was taken as preparation for a major label debut, but Columbia withdrew its support, and they returned to Earache Records. They broke up after the release of "Swansong," reuniting in '07 for Wacken Open Air in Germany and Tuska Open Air Festival in Finland, '08. They played live through '09 and appeared in Hellfest in 2010.
