Formed in 1976, Saxon is an English heavy metal band out of Yorkshire, with eight UK top forty albums, four top tens and several singles in the top twenty to their credit. They have consistently been one of Europe's top acts, with success in U.S., along with Japan following the release of "Motorcycle Man," which headed the charts for five weeks.
Saxon signed with Carrer Records for a debut album in '79. The second in '80 "Wheels of Steel" had two hit singles. The '83 "Power & The Glory" is the highest selling album so far, and coincided with the "Power & Glory" Tour. "Consider" sold two million copies in '84, and they signed with EMI. Headlining the Reading Festival in '86 and touring the U.S., they also appeared at the Download Festival in 2010.
