An American rock/pop band formed in Los Angeles ('70) under the name Halfnelson, they are known as a genre-defying group featuring acidic, witty lyrics and theatrical front men. The 2000 release of "L'il Beethoven" established the custom of performing the entirety of their albums. Sparks is a successful co-progenitor of glampop, power pop, electronic dance music, mainstream and chamber pop (containing classical elements and instruments such as harpsichord, cello and horn).
They have toured the world and have a large cult following. In the late '70s, they reinvented themselves as an electronic pop duo. The later '06 release, "Hello Young Lovers," was followed by their twentieth album in '08, "Creatures of the Deep" and the Fantasy Musical, "The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman" in '09/'10.
