The Cult is a British rock band that formed in 1982. They have broken up and reunited repeatedly throughout the years. The group recently reformed. Some of their best known singles include "She Sells Sanctuary," "Fire Woman," "Edie (Ciao Baby)," and the 2001 release "Rise."

The group released their ninth album, Choice of Weapon, in May, 2012.

In September 1984, The Cult released their first full-length album, Dreamtime, which reached #21 on the UK charts. Singles featured on the album include "Spiritwalker", which reached #1 on the independent charts in the UK, and "Go West". Following the breakthrough success of the band's fourth single, "She Sells Sanctuary" (UK chart #15, and recently voted #18 in VH1s Indie 100), The Cult entered Jacob Studios in London to cut the Love album.

In 1987, The Cult toured in the United States to promote their album Electric. During the tour, they were supported by a then unknown Guns N' Roses.

In 1989, The Cult went on tour in support of the new album, Sonic Temple and new single "Fire Woman". In Europe they toured with Aerosmith, and in the United States, they toured in support of Metallica.

The Cult reunited for a series of shows during 2006, making their first live appearance in three and a half years on 24 February 2006. They are currently scheduling more concert dates for the near future.
