The Spice Girls are one of the most iconic groups in the history of music and perhaps the most recognized and popular British group since the Beatles. The group features an upbeat "girl power" pop sound. Members go by the aliases Scary, Sporty, Baby, Posh and Ginger Spice, based on the girls' individual personalities.
The Spice Girls first came to fame in 1996 with the release of their hit album Spice. The girls were an instant success, with the album going multi-platinum in 10 countries and the single "Wannabe" quickly gaining popularity and becoming one of the biggest hits of the year. Since Spice, The Spice Girls have released 2 additional multi-platinum studio album and one Greatest hits album in 2007.
In 2007, The Spice Girls reunited and announced plans for a massive reunion world tour, which started in Vancouver in December of 2007 and ended in February of 2008. The first of the London shows was reported to have sold out in 38 seconds.
