Canucks 2017-2018 schedule announced – home opener Oct. 7

It’s never too early to think about hockey! After finishing out of playoff contention this past season, the Canucks generated some much-needed buzz with their 5th-overall pick of Swedish centre Elias Pettersson among others at the 2017 entry draft. Pettersson is touted as a much-needed offensive prospect¬†for a team that struggled to put pucks in the net last season.

Prior to the draft, the NHL released its 2017-2018 regular season schedule. The Canucks will begin their season with a home game versus Connor McDavid’s Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, October 7th. The NHL’s newest expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights, will make their regular season debut at Rogers Arena on November 16th. (more…)

Chippiness, Stanley Cup favorites on the brink after a wild and woolly weekend

It may have looked like it this opening round of the playoffs, but a sequel hasn’t been released yet.

The playoffs are ripe for upsets and unexpected turns in momentum, but few possibly could have predicted what transpired over the weekend as NHL games devolved into scenes taken straight out of Slapshot. A few weeks ago, Adrian of ShowTimeTickets.com reminisced about the bench-clearing brawls and rough stuff of the old days and lamented about a general lack of excitement in today’s NHL. What happened in the past few days was a probably – in this fan’s eyes – a statement of “be careful what you wish for”. (more…)

Canucks Stanley Cup Playoffs 2012 Preview: Possible Matchups

The 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs are roughly scheduled to begin April 12th. Right now, it’s likely that the Vancouver Canucks will face either Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Jose or perhaps Colorado or Calgary. In the ultra-tight Western Conference, the standings will be a crazy game of musical chairs right up until the regular season concludes on April 7th. For Vancouver Canucks fans, the memory of last year’s run to Game 7 of the Finals is still fresh. As they await their eventual opponent – perhaps feeling reasonably assured of a lengthy playoff run – the first round may feel like a mere formality.
