Last year’s playoffs were laden with rivalries, upsets, near-comebacks and Game 7s for the ages; parity in the league has only grown since then, so I would nothing less than the excitement from last year to repeat itself. Canucks Stanley Cup Playoffs 2012 Preview: Possible Matchups

The 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs are roughly scheduled to begin April 12th. Right now, it’s likely that the Vancouver Canucks will face either Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Jose or perhaps Colorado or Calgary. In the ultra-tight Western Conference, the standings will be a crazy game of musical chairs right up until the regular season concludes on April 7th. For Vancouver Canucks fans, the memory of last year’s run to Game 7 of the Finals is still fresh. As they await their eventual opponent – perhaps feeling reasonably assured of a lengthy playoff run – the first round may feel like a mere formality.

Canucks & Sharks Battle Toward the Cup

canucksIt’s game two of the Western Conference Final tonight in Vancouver, as the Canucks take on the Sharks at Rogers Arena.

The Canucks go in with the advantage of having won Sunday’s series one game with a score of 3-2, but a lot of NHL commentators are saying that game two is looking better for the Sharks, who despite having had two days off between series, struggled to gain momentum after a fierce seven game battle with the Red Wings.
