| VANOC goes after alleged 2010 ticket scalper March 19, 2009 The Province VANOC has filed a lawsuit against Vancouver ticket broker Coast2Coast Tickets for infringing official marks, misleading consumers and scalping tickets for the 2010 Winter Games. In the past, many tickets issued to the "Olympic family" have made their way into the hands of brokers, but VANOC says they will be using barcodes to track tickets and if they are found to be from "Olympic family" members, tickets will be cancelled, along with all other tickets issued to that organization. | VANOC sues ticket broker over resales March 19, 2009 Metro Vancouver Vancouver ticket broker is being sued by VANOC for the alleged unauthorized reselling of 2010 Olympic tickets. While scalping is not illegal in BC, VANOC claims that reselling the tickets is against the ticket-sales agreement. Mario Livich of ShowTimeTickets.com, another Vancouver-based ticket broker, doesn't understand the argument. "Season's ticket holders are e-mailing us their tickets and saying, 'Get what you can for them because we're not coming in.' | Hackers buy tickets before you: Report February 29, 2008 The Province Computer hackers have created computer programs that buy up blocks of tickets to then sell to ticket brokers. Mario Livich of ShowTimeTickets.com says the new technology is part of an age-old practice of keeping the best seats in the house out of the public's hands.
