The Shrine Circus is a circus event hosted by the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, or Shriners. When a circus visits, it is typically referred to first with the name of the hosting Shrine. They began in Detroit during 1906 with a single ring and have continued to grow in size.
The Shrine Circus has been actively performing around the North American continent since its inception. It makes appearances in approximately 120 U.S. cities per year, and there is also a separate unit that performs in roughly 40 cities in Canada.
