Maya Angelou TicketsMaya Angelou is a Pulitzer-winning American poet, author, screen-writer and actress. Angelou's poetry and literature is a product of her upbringing in the deep racist American South of the 1920's and often reflects on her many experiences. Her debut piece of literature, I know Why the Caged Bird Sings, was published in 1969 and was an autobiographical novel about such experiences. It was one of a series of such autobiographical novels by the author. In 1971, Angelou's first major piece of poetry was published, titled Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'Fore I die.
As a 79 year old woman, Maya Angelou does not tour as much as she used to. However, every once in a while, the influencial poet can be found on the road, doing poetry readings and/or lectures.
