White Sox Continued
1927 - Comiskey Park opens on April 20th. White Sox tickets become an integral part of Chicago's sports scene.
1933 - Chicago is host to the first All-Star game
during the World Fair.
1950 - The All-Star game was held at Comiskey
Park on July 11th, with a dramatic win for the National League of 4-3 due to a home-run in the 14th inning.
1956 - The legendary Luis Apparicio joins the Sox. He plays shortstop for 10 seasons.
1958 - A group of investors headed by Bill Veeck take majority control of the Sox after a lengthy court battle against the Comisky heirs. During Veeck's years at the helm, the team sold record amounts of White Sox Tickets by acheving consistant wins and introducing a number of promotional schemes. Veeck introduced MLB standards such as bat day, exploding scoreboards and names on the back of uniforms.
1959 - The White Sox are champions of the American League. This success leads to record White Sox Ticket sales in the following seasons.
1981 - An investment group headed by Jerry Reinsdorf and Eddie Einhorn purchase the team from Bill Veeck's investors group.
1990 - The original Comiskey Park is retired. The team finish the season had an amazing season record of 94 games.
1991 - New Comiskey Park opens on April 1st with a crowd of 42,191. White Sox owner Bill Veeck is inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
