Minnesota Twins Tickets Continued
The Minnesota Twins are named after Minneapolis and Saint Paul (The Twin Cities). The team began as the Washington Senators in 1901. During their first 10 years, the team made it to the playoff's 3 times.
1961 - The Twins join the National League after relocating from Washington to Minneapolis. Sam Mele is named manager.
1965 - The Twins win the AL pennant but lose to the Dodgers in the World Series. Despite this loss, the team is still very popular and Minnesota Twins tickets sell better with each passing year.
1969 - The Twins win the division championship.
1970 - The Twins make it to the World Series, but are swept by the Orioles.
1986 - Third base coach Tom Kelly becomes manager.
1987 - The Minnesota Twins win the World Series. Again, sales of Minnesota Twins tickets escalate over the next few seasons.
1991 - With the amazing pitching of Scott Erickson, the Twins win a club-record setting 12 games in a row and finish the season 95-67. They also become the first team ever to finish last place one season and win the World Series the next. Minnesota Twins tickets have never sold better.
1992 - The Twins finish the season 90-72 for the 7th time in 9 seasons. Although their played a stellar season, the Oakland Athletics take first place.
1993 - Kirby Puckett earns the All-Star Game MVP with a homer and RBI double.
1994 - Kirby Puckett collects his 2,000th career hit while leading the AL in RBI. Scott Erickson pitches the 3rd No Hitter in the history of the club.
1996 - As spring training loomed, Kirby Puckett awoke on March 28th with blurred vision. After a diagnoses of glaucoma, Puckett would never play again.
2001 - After several dismal seasons, the Twins play a strong season and finish in 2nd place with 85-77.
2002 - The Twins get off to a strong start under new manger Ron Gardenhire. They went on to win their first division title in 11 years with a solid record of 94-67. They lose the World Series to the Anaheim Angels.
