Portsmouth FC Tickets Continued

The best known chant from the Pompey supporters is the "Pompey Chimes" ("Play up Pompey, Pompey play up" sung to the tune of a striking clock), generally reckoned to be the oldest chant in football still sung.

Portsmouth enjoy a fierce rivalry with Southampton; although very much in the shadow of Portsmouth during most of their history, Southampton were in a superior division for most of the 1980s and 90s, and this derby was recently reignited by Portsmouth's promotion to the Premiership in 2003. Portsmouth fans relished bringing their rivals closer to relegation to the Championship with a record 4-1 victory on 24 April, 2005.

The club's most recent trophy was won on 27 April 2003 when Pompey beat Rotherham 3-2 to win the First Division championship , giving the club promotion to the Premier League for the first time in its history.

The 2005/06 season sees Portsmouth play in the Premier League for the third successive season.

In January 2006, Mandaric confirmed he was selling a stake in the club to Russian-Israeli businessman Alexandre Gaydamak.
