London 2012 Olympic Sailing Tickets

Olympic sailing, in the 2008 games, belonged entirely to the Brits, who swept the events with four gold medals. 2012, then, will doubtlessly see a furious competition in this category: the UK team, boldened by their victories, will be trying to do better while on their home turf, while the rest of the world will be desperately trying to make up for their trouncing at Beijing. Every team will have spent the past four years training nonstop, and summer 2012 will see an incredible series of races by athletes at the absolute top of their game.

Olympic sailing currently consists of eleven categories, four in each gender and three open to either. Sailors take the helm of small boats: sailboards, Lasers, 470s, Starboats (Ynglings for the women's event), and in the open categories, Finns, 49ers, and Tornadoes. Sailing fans worldwide thrill at the immense level of skill displayed at the Olympic level, and the small size of the craft (compared to that in many non-Olympic sailing events) makes the sailors' athleticism and individual talent far more evident in these races.
