Puppetry of the Penis is a performance show based on a calendar idea had by an Australian man named Simon Morley. In the late 1990s, Morley found himself with a garage full of calendars that showcased what he called "Dick Tricks," which he and his brother had designed in good fun over several years as young boys. With friends and acquaintances frequently requesting demonstrations of the tricks, Morley decided to create an accompanying performance. He used the calendar's title, "Puppetry of the Penis," for the show. The show consists of two naked men performing theatrical contortions of their genitalia as they narrate "genital origami" with jokes.
After its first performance at the 1998 Melbourne International Comedy Festival in Australia, Puppetry of the Penis has been performed in a variety of international locales such as New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and the US.
