Yankees Hopeful in Game 6

The New York Yankees are set to face the Texas Rangers in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series tonight at Rangers Ballpark.

The Rangers will be hungry for revenge after a decisive 7-2 defeat by the Yankees on Tuesday night at the new Yankee Stadium. In a do-or-die situation, the Yankees were able to pull off a win that kept them in contention for the World Series. Now as the series moves to Texas for Game 6 and potentially Game 7, they face an uphill battle.

For Yankees fans seeing a team rise through the ashes is not something new. Many may remember the 2004 ALCS where the Yankees won the first 3 games of the series only to have the Boston Red Sox become the first major league team to rebound from a postseason 3-0 deficit.

Game 6 will see a repeat of Game 2 aces Phil Hughes for the Yankees and Colby Lewis for the Rangers. However, Texas may be holding onto the series’ secret card, with left-hander Cliff Lee starting in the potential Game 7. Lee is 7-0 in the postseason, with a 1.13 ERA against the Yankees.

If the Rangers win tonight at Ranger Ballpark, they will face the winner of the San Francisco Giants versus Philadelphia Phillies series. The Giants currently lead 3 games to 2.
