McIvor Takes Gold in Ski Cross

British Colummcivorbia’s own, Ashleigh McIvor, took gold for the ski cross today on Cypress Mountain. She has been the front-runner throughout the freestyle events, and scored the first ever gold medal for women’s ski cross at the sport’s debut in the 2010 Winter Games.
McIvor was named the World Champion in 2009, and went into the race today with a lot of confidence. She has been skiing Cypress Mountain most of her life. In a statement to the press after her win, McIvor said, “I stood there in the start gate and thought, ‘Everything in my life has led me here. I felt I was made for this event. It’s in my hometown, pretty much. What else could I ask for?’”
McIvor’s win is number six for Canada in the gold medal count.
Freestyle skiing continues through February 25th. For freestyle skiing tickets, visit ShowTimeTickets.com.
