Christmas Comes Early in Toronto! ShowTime Visits the Santa Claus Parade!

It’s a flurry of activity at ShowTimeTickets.com’s new Toronto office this week, as the city prepares to host the 100th Grey Cup championship game on November 25. Preparations at our recently-opened location at #102-36 Charlotte Street (a block from the intersection of King Street and Spadina Avenue) are well underway and we’re getting ready to be your headquarters for tickets to the big Grey Cup game this Sunday!
JC, Operations Manager for ShowTimeTickets.com’s Toronto office, started the week off on location at the annual Santa Claus Parade in downtown Toronto and had this to say:

JC with ShowTime, our mascot!
JC with ShowTime, our mascot!

Amazing experience yesterday as we sent our ShowTimeTickets.com mascot (and mascot assistant Sara) out to participate in the festivities of the Toronto Santa Claus Parade.
Over half a million Toronto and GTA residents line up along the downtown Toronto streets to view the Santa Claus Parade yearly. The ShowTimeTickets mascot was a huge hit and was swarmed by kids of all ages wherever he went!

November 2012 – A concert-goer’s paradise?

By Kat

November isn’t all about the ‘Mo and the coming of the Canadian winter. Or at least it hasn’t been for music fans in the Great White North.

You’d think the absence of hockey would make for dull and dreary times in arenas in Vancouver and Edmonton, but the concert schedule is looking pretty swell for the tail end of November. True, it has been a tough slog for the sports fan waiting for the puck to finally drop on a season, but if you believe in quality over quantity, headline acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bruce Springsteen and Sir Paul McCartney coming to town should make any entertainment buff more than a little excited. All three of the aforementioned acts make their hotly-anticipated appearances in Western Canada in the coming days.

Those out East also plenty to be excited about, with pop superstars Justin Bieber (with Carly Rae Jepsen), and music legends Neil Young and The Who making their way to Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal in the coming weeks. And oh yeah – Canadian sports fans have that little football party called the 100th Grey Cup lighting up downtown Toronto come November 25.

Just over 8 months ago, the BC Lions erased a 0-5 start to their season by hoisting the 99th Grey Cup in front of their home crowd at the newly-opened BC Place:

For all the drama that was in 2011, it is now relegated to the past as the 2012 CFL preseason is set to begin tomorrow. Teams have retooled their rosters and coaching staffs – the champion BC Lions have installed former defensive coach Mike Benevides as their head coach – and as last season’s Grey Cup matchup between the Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers showed, every year is a new year for CFL teams. Tomorrow’s preseason kickoff pits the Saskatchewan Roughriders against the BC Lions, and the Toronto Argonauts visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Which teams do you think will punch their tickets to the 100th Grey Cup game in Toronto this season?

On Sunday, the 98th Grey Cup will be played between two of the CFL’s biggest powerhouses. The Montreal Alouettes (12-6) will take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders (10-8). The game kicks off at 6pm ET at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.
The Alouettes, led by their quarterback and three time CFL Most Outstanding Player,  Anthony Calvillo, have maintained a dominating presence in the CFL. They have appeared in eight Grey Cups over the past 11 years. Meanwhile, the Roughriders are often referred to as “Canada’s Team,” because of their diehard fans that seem to be spread all across Canada.
Last year’s unforgettable Grey Cup was contested by these same two teams. Read More
