The Rose Bowl is an annual American college football game, which pits some of the top teams in college football against one another, in an exciting New Year's Day celebration. The Rose Bowl is nicknamed "The Granddaddy of them All" for a reason, as it is the oldest event of its type. The contest was first played in 1902 and since its inception, has become one of the most looked-forward to and exciting sporting events of the year.

Rose Bowl 2009 will once again feature top representatives from the Big 10 and Pacific 10 NCAA football divisions.. Last year's contest was a blowout, as the University of Southern California won the championship for the second consecutive year, beating Illinois 49-17. Quarterback John David Booty and Long back Rey Maualuga, both of USC shared the MVP award for excellence during the game. Rose Bowl 2009 will see the Trojans looking to make their way back to the top and defend their title again, earning a third consecutuive Rose Bowl title and a record thirty third appearance and twenty fourth win in the the contest.
