Christina Aguilera (born December 18, 1980) is an American pop singer. Also known as Xtina, she is most notable for her vocal abilities as well as her unorthodox fashion sense. Her vocal skills have been compared to those of singers such as Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Christina Aguilera has been classified as a spinto soprano and she has a 4 octave range. She has achieved four number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as two top five albums in the United States. Christina Aguilera is now married to record executive Jordan Bratman.

Christina Aguilera was one of several U.S. teen pop stars to rise to huge popular acclaim in the late 90s. Of Irish and Ecuadorian descent, her mother played violin and piano professionally while her father's position in the military resulted in the family travelling extensively around the world. Bursting onto the musical landscape in 1999, Christina Aguilera's highly successful self-titled debut album went on to sell over 16 million copies. With its string of chart toppers, Christina Aguilera earned numerous accolades including a Grammy award from Best New Artist.
